Adherence to behavioural advice after ACS beneficial

A study in Circulation has shown that adherence to behavioural advice in areas relating to diet, exercise, and smoking cessation by patients who have experienced acute coronary syndrome (ACS) can substantially lower the risk of recurrent cardiovascular events.

Although preventative drug therapy is a priority after ACS, the paper’s authors (Chow et al.) recommend that behavioural modification should be given priority similar to other preventive medications immediately after acute coronary syndrome.
