C3 Collaborating for Health believes that only by working together can we make it easier to be healthy.

Working with low-income countries

A global epidemic

In the next few years, deaths from non-communicable diseases will overtake deaths from infectious diseases in low-income countries. Many of these deaths are premature, and could be prevented by tackling the major risk factors. C3 advocates for more resources and attention to be focused on preventable, non-communicable diseases in developing countries.

C3 has a global network of contacts, and is partnering with organisations including the UnitedHealth/NHLBI Chronic Disease Initiative, the International Council of Nurses, and OxHA’s Community Interventions for Health action research programme in countries including India, China and Mexico.

Global Nursing Project

C3 Collaborating for Health, with the International Council of Nurses (ICN), Pfizer External Medical Affairs, and the International Alliance of Patient Organizations, are calling on nurses everywhere to move to action, to stem the pandemic of chronic disease.

The project was first initiated by Christine Hancock, director of C3 and a past-president of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), in 2007 at a workshop in South Africa, jointly organised with DENOSA (the South African nurses’ association) and ICN. Today, the coalition is now working together to explore a range of nurse led options and interventions in chronic disease, including awareness-raising, sharing existing initiatives and supporting the dissemination of effective projects, and supporting nurses in improving their own wellbeing and the health of their families.
