International Breakfast Seminar with Dr Jennifer Miller

On 25 January 2017 we welcomed Dr Jennifer Miller, chief executive of the Global Climate and Health Alliance, to speak about using holistic community revitalisation to make urban areas healthier for people and planet.
She offered excellent examples of work being done in the United States in low-income neighbourhoods that prove to have useful learnings for professionals in the UK and elsewhere.

  • East Lake, Atlanta, Georgia: known as ‘Little Vietnam’ for its similarities to a war zone
  • Refresh, New Orleans, Louisiana: badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina
  • Little Village, Chicago, Illinois: primarily Mexican community heavily polluted by nearby coal power stations

Contact us for presentation slides and notes and read a blog in the British Medical Journal for seminar highlights by Richard Smith, former editor of the BMJ and former C3 Trustee.
