The Healthy Weight Initiative for Nurses (WIN.) is working with registered nurses in England who are obese to design initiatives that they think might help nurses to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
WIN. is a collaboration between C3 Collaborating for Health, London South Bank University, the Royal College of Nursing, the Royal College of Nursing Foundation and the Burdett Trust for Nursing.
WIN. is embarking on a journey to see if we can help nurses maintain a healthy weight. We know this is a sensitive subject with many complicating factors, but:
Together with nurses, we will design interventions that nurses think will be helpful and implement and evaluate them.
We have completed a prevalence study of obesity in nurses, an evidence review of workplace interventions to help nurses maintain a healthy weight, a survey of hundreds of nurses, and held focus groups and workshops across the country.
Together with nurses around England, we have that nurses thought would be helpful to meet the needs of those who want to reach and maintain a healthy weight. We are now at the exciting testing phase and with your input, we can make a difference for nurses.
We would love you to get involved. Please feel free to join us at any stage in this project. Currently WIN. is for registered nurses who are working in England, and we hope to expand this with further funding.
While we want to hear from all nurses, we are particularly keen to hear advice from nurses who are currently or who used to be obese. Only then can this project truly be designed by nurses for nurses.
Complete this quick survey to let us know what you are keen on participating in.
