COVID-19

Nurses have been at the vanguard of dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak and emergency. Nurses and other medical professional have also had to deal with colleagues and members of their families contracting COVID-19 and becoming ill and hospitalised.

The toolkit highlights how nurses can stay safe. It includes information on caring for patients with COVID-19, frequently asked questions and it addresses the anxiety of nurses who are working during a time of pandemic.

What is it?

Daily campaign to protect the wellbeing of healthcare workers in the fight against COVID. Join us for our daily wellbeing content, specifically designed for the challenge of keeping a healthy mind and body whilst fighting the COVID battle. Includes resources around mindfulness, being active, nutrition (e.g., ‘Coping with COVID’ food blog) and sleep.

What is it?

Use this service to find out what help and advice you can get from the government and other organisations. You can use it for yourself or someone else.

You can find support with:

  • what to do if you’re feeling unsafe where you live, or if you’re worried about someone else
  • paying your bills, rent, or mortgage
  • getting food
  • being made redundant or unemployed, or not having any work
  • what to do if you’re worried about going in to work
  • having somewhere to live
  • mental health and wellbeing, including information for children

You will not get direct support from the government or organisations through this service.

Wiley Online Library: COVID-19 anxiety in front-line nurses

What is it?

COVID‐19 anxiety among front‐line nurses: Predictive role of organisational support, personal resilience and social support.

Abstract
Aim: This study examines the relative influence of personal resilience, social support and organisational support in reducing COVID-19 anxiety in front-line nurses.
Conclusions: Resilient nurses and those who perceived higher organisational and social support were more likely to report lower anxiety related to COVID-19.
Implication for Nursing Management: COVID-19 anxiety may be addressed through organisational interventions, including increasing social support, assuring adequate organisational support, providing psychological and mental support services and providing resilience-promoting and stress management interventions.
