Lessons from Ghana: Do community health workers have a future in the UK?

During the pandemic health workers took a leading role in tackling COVID-19 in the UK, especially in vaccination and testing centres, begging the question, what role will community health workers play in the future of public health in the UK?

 

 

About the speaker

Dr Stella Lartey is a lecturer in Health Economics (University of East Anglia, UEA) and has a primary focus on creating sustainable access to healthcare and building effectiveness and efficiency improvements into interventions targeted at communities, aging populations, and those affected by obesity and NCDs. She has worked for more than 10 years in LMICs. With a wealth of experience in designing, developing, monitoring, and evaluating community-based projects and developing skills in health economics modelling, she nationally coordinated the implementation of Ghana’s CHPS program from 2014-2017.
