C3 is joined by Dr Devaki Nambiar, Program Director, Healthier Societies Strategy at the George Institute for Global Health India with appointments at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India, the University of New South Wales, Australia, and the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, USA.

Dr Nambiar shares findings from the ‘Paying the Price’ report*, that looked at out-of-pocket (OOP) spending for people living with NCDs; what effects do these costs have and what coping mechanisms do people with NCDs use when faced with OOP spending ? Dr Nambiar discusses her work leading the Healthier Societies Strategy – which operates on the understanding that where we live determines our health – working with governments, markets and communities to change systems not people.
